Islamabad, November 11, 2025: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Tuesday ordered the blocking of passports of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul, while issuing a non-bailable arrest warrant for the party’s Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram in connection with the Sangjani rally case.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra directed authorities to submit a report after blocking the passports and adjourned the hearing until December 3.

The case stems from a PTI power show held in September 2024 demanding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan from Rawalpindi Adiala Jail. Last month, the same court had issued arrest warrants against Ayub, Gul, and Akram for failing to appear even once before the court.

This development adds to the ongoing legal challenges faced by PTI, whose senior leaders—including Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Yasmin Rashid—remain behind bars over alleged involvement in multiple incidents, including the May 9 riots.

Separately, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the home secretary, Adiala jail superintendent, and other officials in a contempt of court plea filed by PTI’s Salman Akram Raja, citing failure to facilitate a meeting with Imran Khan.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir questioned the assistant attorney general about why the court-ordered meeting had not taken place. PTI lawyer Raja highlighted that despite written orders, Khan was not allowed to meet his lawyer last Tuesday, adding that the SHO had failed to comply.

The court issued notices to the concerned parties over the contempt petition and adjourned further proceedings.
