Hyderabad, November 15,2025: At least four people were killed and several others sustained injuries after an explosion ripped through a fireworks manufacturing setup in Hyderabad’s Latifabad area on Saturday, officials said.

Latifabad Assistant Commissioner Saud Lund initially confirmed two deaths and said four to five injured individuals had been shifted to local hospitals. However, rescue teams later recovered two more bodies from the debris, taking the death toll to four.

Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro, who visited the site, confirmed the updated toll and called for action against illegal factories. “Action against illegal factories must be taken,” he told reporters.

AC Lund said firecrackers were being illegally produced inside the residential property without a licence. “The room where the crackers were being made was completely destroyed in the blast,” he said, adding that debris from the collapsed room and boundary wall buried several people, including children. Rescue teams were still working to retrieve those trapped.

Police said the explosion triggered a fire that engulfed the room and adjoining sections of the structure, causing parts of the building to collapse. Law enforcers, rescue teams, and firefighters reached the scene shortly after the incident, with firefighting efforts ongoing.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has sought a detailed report on the blast and ordered an audit of safety measures at the site. He vowed strict action against those responsible, saying negligence in ensuring workers’ safety would not be tolerated.

A similar incident occurred in Karachi’s Saddar area in August this year, when a blast at a firecracker warehouse killed six people and injured several others. According to the FIR of that case, the suspects had stored a large quantity of fireworks haphazardly and without safety measures, leading to the deadly explosion.
