Islamabad, October 21,2024-Senior PTI leader and former president of the Supreme Court Bar, Hamid Khan, has announced a lawyers’ movement through the National Action Committee against the 26th Constitutional Amendment. He stated that lawyers will only accept Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as the next Chief Justice.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Hamid Khan condemned the amendment, saying, “Yesterday and today are among the darkest days. This constitutional amendment has distorted the constitution, and we lawyers deem it unconstitutional.” He emphasized that the amendment contradicts the fundamental framework of the constitution and cited historical precedents from Supreme Court judges. “It is our duty as lawyers to protect the constitution and the judiciary, and we will launch a nationwide movement to do so.”

He further criticized the parliamentary vote, saying, “People were brought in on wheelchairs to cast their votes. We believe these votes cannot be counted, and without horse-trading, the government would not have secured its numbers.”
