Lahore, November 25,2025: In a major development for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), two of its most high-profile franchises, Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, have renewed their franchise rights for another 10 years, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Tuesday.

Both renewals were finalised at the updated market valuations assessed by global audit and advisory firm Ernst & Young, indicating growing investor confidence in the PSL’s commercial value as it prepares to expand to eight teams from Season 11.

Karachi Kings extend ownership for 10 years

Karachi Kings, champions of the 2020 edition and one of the league’s most widely followed teams, confirmed their long-term commitment by extending their franchise agreement under the updated valuation.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the extension, praising team owner Salman Iqbal for his sustained contribution to the PSL.

“It is a pleasure to announce that Karachi Kings will continue with their existing owners for another 10 years,” Naqvi said. “Salman Iqbal and his team have played a pivotal role in elevating the PSL’s stature and building a franchise with a passionate fan base. Their renewal reflects the league’s enduring strength and potential.”

PSL CEO Salman Naseer also hailed the franchise’s commitment, noting that Karachi Kings had “consistently contributed to the league’s growth, cricket promotion, and talent development.”

Islamabad United also secure 10-year renewal

In a parallel announcement, Islamabad United — the inaugural PSL champions and one of the league’s most consistent outfits — also renewed their franchise rights for the next decade, again at the current market valuation set by Ernst & Young.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the franchise had been an “exemplary partner” since the league’s inception.

“I am delighted that Islamabad United will continue its journey with the PSL for another decade. Ali Naqvi’s professionalism and dedication have strengthened both his franchise and the league.”

PSL CEO Salman Naseer added that Islamabad United had played a “central role in shaping the PSL’s identity and excellence” and that their renewal would help the league “attain unprecedented heights.”

Islamabad United, known for their data-driven strategy and strong cricketing culture, have remained among the most successful and influential franchises in the competition.
