South Africa crush India by 408 runs to seal 2–0 series win; climb to second in WTC as Pakistan overtakes India

Guwahati, November 26,2025: South Africa recorded a commanding 408-run victory over India in the second Test at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, completing a 2–0 series sweep and moving up to second place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 points table. Meanwhile, India slipped to fifth, falling below Pakistan, which climbed to fourth spot, after consecutive defeats. The Proteas now have 36 points from three wins and one loss, while Pakistan holds 12 points from one win and one defeat, and India’s tally stands at 52 points from nine matches with a win percentage of 48.15.

Australia continues to lead the WTC standings with four wins from four matches, 48 points, and a perfect 100% win rate, followed by Sri Lanka in third place.

Batting first, South Africa posted 489 in 151.1 overs, powered by a lower-order century from Senuran Muthusamy (109 off 206 balls) and a rapid 93 off 91 balls from Marco Jansen. Kuldeep Yadav was India’s best bowler with 4 for 115.

India were bowled out for 201 in reply, giving South Africa a 288-run first-innings lead. Jansen took 6 for 48, and Simon Harmer added three wickets.

South Africa declared their second innings at 260 for 5, setting India an imposing 549-run target. Tristan Stubbs scored 94, Tony de Zorzi 49, while Wiaan Mulder and Ryan Rickelton added 35 each.

Chasing the mammoth total, India collapsed for 140 in 63.5 overs. Ravindra Jadeja top-scored with 54, but no other batter provided meaningful resistance. Harmer ran through the Indian lineup with 6 for 37, completing a sensational match haul as South Africa wrapped up a dominant series victory on Indian soil.
