Karachi, December 1, 2025: Australia lifted the IMC Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup 2025 trophy after defeating Pakistan by seven wickets in an exciting final at the National Bank Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Chasing a target of 151, Australia built their innings steadily, led by Steve Nottle’s composed 47 off 40 balls and a valuable 42 from Steven Paulsen off 34 deliveries. The decisive blow came from Nasir Jalil, who hammered a blistering 25* from just 10 balls at a strike rate of 250, sealing victory with an over remaining.
Pakistan, defending a modest total, found hope through Fawad Alam’s tight spell of 2-16, but the bowlers were unable to contain an in-form Australian batting unit.
Earlier, Pakistan opted to bat first but were rattled by Australia’s Mark Cleary, who delivered a match-defining spell of 5-22. Despite resistance from Nadeem Javed (24), Fawad Alam (24), and Abdul Razzaq (19), Pakistan managed only 150-9 in their 20 overs.
The IMC Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup 2025 featured 12 teams and 42 matches played across Karachi. Australia’s triumph capped off a fiercely contested tournament, underscoring the rising popularity and competitive spirit of veteran T20 cricket worldwide.
