Quetta, December 6, 2025: More than 100 armed militants, including a senior commander of a proscribed organisation — surrendered to authorities in Sui, Balochistan on Saturday, officials confirmed.

According to the local administration, the militants laid down their weapons, pledged allegiance to Pakistan and announced their decision to join the national mainstream. Commander Wadera Noor Ali Chakarani and his associates handed over their arms to Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti during a formal ceremony.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti congratulated the commander and others who renounced violence, calling their decision “highly commendable” and a welcome development for peace in the region.

“These men raised Pakistan’s flag and began their journey towards peace,” the chief minister said, adding that the move sends a clear message that the state has always kept its doors open for dialogue.

He reiterated that intelligence-based operations against anti-state elements were continuing across the province, but those willing to abandon militancy and accept the Constitution of Pakistan would be embraced.

“Anyone who mistakes the state’s leniency as weakness will be pursued until the very end,” he warned.

Provincial officials said the mass surrender would bolster peace efforts in Sui and nearby areas, potentially encouraging other militants to reconsider violence and reintegrate into society.

Authorities hailed the development as another significant step toward stability in a region long affected by insurgency.
