Lahore, December 8, 2025: Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar on Monday chaired a high-level meeting in Lahore and ordered a province-wide security high alert, covering major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
Dr. Anwar directed security agencies to immediately launch sweep and combing operations across Punjab. He instructed that SDPOs and SHOs must actively participate in these operations alongside the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other law-enforcement units.
The IG Punjab also ordered the CTD, SDPOs, and other institutions to conduct mock security exercises in educational establishments. He emphasized the installation of CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points of schools, colleges, and universities, and stressed the deployment of security guards along with proper emergency evacuation plans.
He further directed officials to carry out immediate profiling and data verification of individuals arriving from outside the province. Continuous monitoring of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and all proscribed organizations was also ordered, along with vigorous door-knocking campaigns to trace and eliminate terrorists and anti-state elements.
Highlighting recent police performance, Dr. Anwar revealed that traffic licensing had increased by over 930 percent due to Punjab Police initiatives. He lauded DIG Operations Lahore, Faisal Kamran, for achieving a 46 percent reduction in the city’s crime rate, and praised the CTD for its crucial role in crime control and curbing drug trafficking.
He also appreciated DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir for enhanced enforcement of traffic laws, which has contributed to a notable reduction in road accidents.
Dr. Usman Anwar further announced that 3,500 new promotions will be granted in the Punjab Police in the coming days.
