Islamabad, December 23, 2025: The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Islamabad on Tuesday hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Russia–Pakistan: Overview of the Modern Stage of Bilateral Relations,” organized in collaboration with the Consortium for Asia Pacific and Eurasian Studies (CAPES). The event brought together more than 40 representatives from leading universities and research institutions across Pakistan, including participants from Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Sargodha, and Okara.

In his opening remarks, Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev highlighted the positive momentum in Russia–Pakistan relations, noting the growing dynamism of political dialogue and the intensification of contacts between the legislative bodies of the two countries. He also underscored the steady development of cultural ties and constructive engagement between religious organizations in Russia and Pakistan, emphasizing that the peoples of both nations are united by shared traditional spiritual and moral values.

Ambassador Khorev reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to further enhance cooperation through joint initiatives aimed at deepening bilateral engagement within the broader Eurasian region. He stressed that such projects could play a significant role in strengthening long-term partnership and mutual understanding between the two friendly neighboring countries.

Russian Trade Representative in Islamabad, Denis Nevzorov, briefed participants on key trends in bilateral trade and economic cooperation during 2025. He also introduced the 16th INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, from July 6 to 9, 2026, and encouraged Pakistani stakeholders to explore participation opportunities.

The roundtable discussions generated several proposals to strengthen people-to-people contacts, including the resumption of direct flights between Russia and Pakistan, the launch of joint academic and educational programs between universities of both countries, and the translation of Russian classical and contemporary literary works into Urdu.

The event concluded with a strong expression of interest from Pakistan’s academic and scientific community in further expanding dialogue with the Russian Federation and enhancing cooperation in economic, cultural, educational, and humanitarian fields, reflecting a shared commitment to broadening bilateral ties at multiple levels.
