CCoP endorses Rs135 billion bid for PIA privatization, recommends cabinet approval

Islamabad, December 30,2025: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP), which reviewed progress on the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL).

During the meeting, the Secretary, Ministry of Privatization, presented a detailed briefing on the future course of action for PIACL’s privatization. After deliberations, the CCoP endorsed the Rs135 billion bid submitted by the AHC-led consortium for the acquisition of 75 percent shares of PIA and recommended its approval by the federal cabinet.

The deputy prime minister stressed the need for timely action by all relevant stakeholders to ensure the swift completion of the privatization process. He expressed hope that the move would pave the way for PIA to regain its past stature and operational strength.

The meeting was attended by the ministers for power, advisors to the prime minister on privatization, and industry and production, as well as special assistants to the prime minister Tariq Bajwa and Bilal Kiyani. Federal secretaries from the cabinet, privatization, defence, law, power, and industry ministries, along with officials of the Privatization Commission and other senior officers from concerned departments, were also present.
