Colombo, December 31, 2025: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that the upcoming home T20I series against Pakistan, scheduled for January 7, 9, and 11, will be dedicated to the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” initiative, local media reported on Wednesday.
The decision, taken by the SLC Executive Committee led by Shammi Silva, aims to support the government’s recovery efforts following the devastation caused by the Ditwah Cyclone. As part of the initiative, SLC will implement a range of measures during the series to raise awareness about the programme. Match venues will feature the #VisitSriLanka campaign to promote tourism globally, and profits from the series will be donated to the federal government’s rebuilding programme.
The T20I series will also act as a key preparatory platform for both sides ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Pakistan, placed in Group A, will begin their campaign against the Netherlands on February 7, while Sri Lanka, in Group B, will face Ireland the following day.
The two teams last met in the shortest format during the Pakistan-hosted tri-nation series in November 2025, which also featured Zimbabwe. Pakistan emerged victorious in that series, defeating Sri Lanka in the final to clinch the title.
