Zardari, Shehbaz express condolences over deadly Switzerland ski resort fire

Islamabad/Zurich, January 1, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the devastating explosion and fire at a ski resort in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, which claimed numerous lives.

In a post on social media platform X, President Zardari said he was “heartbroken by the news of the devastating explosion and fire in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on New Year’s night.” He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed profound grief over the tragic incident, offering sympathies to the bereaved families and wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity, he said the government and people of Pakistan stand with the government and people of Switzerland during this difficult time.
