Islamabad, January 1, 2026: Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Thursday extended warm greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Pakistan on the joyous occasion of the New Year 2026, expressing hope for peace, prosperity and shared progress in the year ahead.

In his New Year message, the Iranian ambassador conveyed sincere wishes for health, prosperity and success to the “brotherly, friendly and neighbouring people” of Pakistan. He paid special tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, members of the federal cabinet, and the leadership and members of both houses of parliament for their “strong political will and valuable efforts” in advancing Iran–Pakistan relations.

Ambassador Moghadam said the exchange of high-level delegations and Pakistan’s brotherly support had played a significant role in deepening bilateral ties between the two countries. He also expressed profound gratitude to Pakistan’s armed forces and security agencies for their vital role in enhancing bilateral cooperation and for their sacrifices in ensuring security and stability along the shared borders, particularly in the fight against terrorism.

Reflecting on the past year, the ambassador described 2025 as a “highly successful and remarkable year” in the history of Iran–Pakistan relations. He said that due to the firm determination of the leadership of both countries, the tireless efforts of government institutions, and the patience and support of the peoples of Iran and Pakistan, bilateral relations reached “new and unprecedented historical heights.”

He noted that both countries extended mutual support to each other in various arenas, including regional and international forums, further strengthening their partnership.

Looking ahead, Ambassador Moghadam expressed confidence that the coming year would open new avenues for cooperation and further consolidate relations founded on common interests, shared values and mutual respect. He also reaffirmed Iran’s appreciation for Pakistan’s “strong and principled support” during the twelve-day war, saying it would never be forgotten by the Iranian people.

Concluding his message, the Iranian ambassador reiterated his heartfelt greetings on the advent of the New Year 2026 and expressed hope that the year would bring peace, stability and collective progress for both nations and the wider region.
