Islamabad, January 13, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review Pakistan’s current wheat stock position and overall food security situation.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister took note of the committee’s briefing, which confirmed that wheat reserves in the country are at satisfactory levels. The federal government is currently holding around two million metric tons of wheat, which can be released to the provinces as required to meet demand.

Senator Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring food security and the timely and equitable distribution of wheat across the country. He emphasized that all necessary measures would be taken to stabilize supply and address provincial requirements.

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary Food, the Chief Secretary Punjab, officials of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), and senior officials from relevant ministries.
