Islamabad, January 15, 2026: The Embassy of the Republic of Myanmar in Islamabad celebrated the 78th anniversary of Myanmar’s Independence on Thursday, highlighting the country’s rich history, culture, and achievements. The event was attended by senior officials, diplomats, and members of the business and diplomatic community.
Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Chairman of the Federal Board of Investment (FBI), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Ambassador Wunna Han of Myanmar to Pakistan presided over the ceremony. The gathering provided a platform to strengthen bilateral ties, promote cultural exchange, and explore avenues for economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
In his address, Ambassador Wunna Han paid tribute to Myanmar’s journey of independence and emphasized the importance of fostering stronger Myanmar–Pakistan relations in trade, investment, and cultural engagement. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s continued support and friendship.
Chief Guest Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh lauded Myanmar’s economic and developmental progress and highlighted the potential for expanding bilateral investment and trade opportunities. He noted that such diplomatic and cultural events play a vital role in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between nations.
The celebration featured cultural performances, traditional music, and a display of Myanmar’s heritage, reflecting the country’s vibrant traditions and its enduring spirit of independence.
