Murree, January 27, 2026: Murree police and the district administration have successfully managed unprecedented snowfall and severe blizzards that broke a 25-year record in the hill resort, restoring all major highways for tourists after the fourth consecutive snow spell ended.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer, all key roads were fully reopened following the conclusion of the latest 21-hour snowfall. He said that despite the extreme weather, traffic flow remained uninterrupted due to a modern operational strategy and the active field presence of all concerned departments.

Dr. Tanveer said Murree experienced extraordinary weather conditions this winter, witnessing a rare pattern of prolonged and intense snowstorms. For the first time in nearly two to two-and-a-half decades, the city faced a 35-hour snow blizzard that severely disrupted routine life. This was followed by another 22-hour snowstorm, while the most recent fourth spell continued uninterrupted for 21 hours.

Highlighting the administration’s performance, the DPO said the most significant achievement during this challenging period was the maintenance of a “Zero Incident” record. Personnel from Murree Police, Traffic Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, Motorway Police, and Rescue 1122 worked round the clock in temperatures dropping to as low as minus five degrees Celsius. He added that the Expressway and Toll Plaza remained operational throughout, ensuring safe passage for both tourists and local residents.

With the completion of snow clearance operations on all routes, Murree has once again become fully accessible and safe for visitors. Commending the courage and dedication of officers and personnel from all departments, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer assured the public that Murree is now completely open.

He invited tourists to visit Murree with their families and enjoy the scenic snowy landscapes, assuring that Murree Police remain on high alert to ensure the safety and facilitation of visitors and residents alike.
