Rawalpindi, January 27, 2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Tuesday expressed concern over reports that former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently jailed, is suffering from an eye infection.

Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said he learned about the condition from media reports and described it as “worrying,” emphasizing the need for family meetings. According to PTI, Khan has reportedly been diagnosed with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) in his right eye, a serious condition that, if left untreated, carries a high risk of permanent vision damage.

The party alleged that the Adiala jail administration is insisting that treatment be carried out within the jail, despite specialist doctors stating that it requires an operation theatre and specialized medical facilities. PTI said this approach puts Khan’s vision and overall health in “grave danger.”

The former prime minister was last allowed access to his personal physician in October 2024. PTI described the continued restrictions as “a blatant violation of court orders and a gross breach of fundamental human rights.” The party demanded that Khan be immediately allowed unrestricted meetings with his family and close associates and be admitted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital or another reputable hospital of his choice for proper treatment.

Shaukat Khanum Hospital later requested that a medical team be granted immediate access to Khan for evaluation, though the hospital stated it could not independently verify the reports.

Khan, in custody since August 2023, faces multiple cases, including corruption and terrorism-related charges, following his removal from office in April 2022 through a no-confidence motion.

Barrister Gohar also stressed that family interactions, including meetings with Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, must remain unhindered by politics. On national security, he emphasized that the government must not compromise on terrorism, stating, “Provincial and federal governments must protect lives and property. We do not negotiate with those targeting us.”
