Phnom Penh, February 2, 2026: Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, arrived in Phnom Penh on Monday on an official visit to Cambodia, underscoring the growing parliamentary engagement between the two countries.
Upon arrival, the Chairman Senate was warmly received at the airport by senior Cambodian parliamentary and government dignitaries, including Dr. Thun Vathana, Second Vice President of the Senate; Ngy Chanphal, Chairman of the 1st Commission of the Senate and Chairman of the Cambodia–Pakistan Senate Friendship Group; Dr. Chhiv Yiseang, Chairman of the 5th Commission of the Senate; and Nguon Sokeng, Director General of Protocol and International Relations. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem, was also present to receive the delegation.
As a special gesture of courtesy, Ambassador Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem and Nguon Sokeng boarded the aircraft to personally welcome the Chairman of the Senate and his delegation.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is accompanied by a parliamentary and advisory delegation comprising Senator Zarqa Suharwardy, Senator Abid Sher Ali, Senator Zamir Hussain Ghumro, and Ms. Misbah Khar, Adviser to the Chairman Senate.
Following the airport reception, the Chairman of the Senate departed for his hotel, accompanied by Ngy Chanphal.
The warm welcome accorded to the Chairman of the Senate reflects the cordial relations between Pakistan and Cambodia and highlights the importance both sides attach to strengthening parliamentary cooperation and dialogue.
