Uzbek President visits GIDS, explores defence and industrial cooperation with Pakistan

Rawalpindi, February 5,2026: Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, accompanied by senior ministers, paid an official visit to Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) as part of his ongoing state visit to Pakistan.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, warmly received President Mirziyoyev and his delegation and accompanied them during the tour of the facility.

During the visit, the Uzbek president was briefed on the wide-ranging portfolio of GIDS, including advanced defence solutions, industrial capabilities, and technological innovations. The delegation toured key facilities and observed a variety of defence products, showcasing Pakistan’s growing expertise in indigenous defence production and industrial development.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Uzbekistan to deepen collaboration in the defence, technology, and industrial sectors. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships through knowledge exchange, joint ventures, and enhanced institutional cooperation.

The engagement was described as a significant step toward further strengthening bilateral relations and exploring diverse avenues of cooperation between Pakistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
