Islamabad, February 11, 2026: A meeting of the Pakistan–Turkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), convened by MNA Sanjay Perwani, was held with Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Atadjan Movlamov, at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad.

The session was attended by several members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, including Fateh Ullah Khan, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Nazir Ahmed Bhugio, Arshad Abdullah Vohra, Dr. Darshan, and Ms. Naima Kanwal.

During the meeting, Ambassador Movlamov delivered a comprehensive presentation on Turkmenistan’s political system, constitutional framework, and parliamentary structure. He also outlined the country’s foreign policy, which is grounded in principles of permanent neutrality, peace, and regional cooperation. The ambassador highlighted Turkmenistan’s development priorities, economic outlook, and active participation in multilateral forums aimed at promoting dialogue, trust, and stability. He further pointed to the country’s tourism potential, noting its distinctive breed of horses and vast landscapes.

Discussions focused on the current state of bilateral relations, with both sides emphasizing the need to strengthen inter-parliamentary engagement through their respective friendship groups. Participants also explored opportunities to enhance trade, connectivity, transport links, and broader economic cooperation in a forward-looking manner.

Members of the group appreciated the detailed briefing and acknowledged Turkmenistan’s contributions to regional cooperation and sustainable development. They stressed the importance of regular dialogue, parliamentary exchanges, and people-to-people contacts to further consolidate the longstanding ties between the two nations.

Convener Sanjay Perwani reiterated that Parliamentary Friendship Groups serve as an effective institutional mechanism for promoting understanding, coordination, and legislative cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Turkmenistan relations and agreed to remain in close contact for future engagements.
