Islamabad, February 15, 2026: President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mahmood, has said that the business community of Islamabad serves as the backbone of the national economy, stressing that unity and harmony among all markets of the federal capital are the need of the hour.

He assured that the newly elected presidents of Islamabad’s markets and commercial centres would receive full patronage from the Chamber, adding that ICCI would continue a joint struggle for the resolution of traders’ issues through collective engagement with relevant authorities.

He expressed these views while addressing a dinner reception held at a local hotel in honour of the newly elected business leadership. The event was hosted by ICCI Executive Member Roheel Anwar Butt to felicitate the elected office-bearers of various markets, including President Blue Area Yousaf Rajput, Chairman Blue Area Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, President G-11 Markaz Naeem Akhtar Awan, President E-11 Markaz Zahir Abbasi, and President G-8 Markaz Ajab Khan.

The ceremony was attended by ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mahmood and Secretary General of the United Business Group (UBG), Zafar Bakhtawari, as chief guests.

In his address, Sardar Tahir Mahmood said that the Chamber would continue to play the role of a strong bridge between traders and the government. He reaffirmed that issues faced by all markets of Islamabad would be taken up with the concerned authorities on a priority basis and that every possible step would be taken to ensure a business-friendly environment in the capital.

Speaking on the occasion, UBG Secretary General Zafar Bakhtawari said that unity is the real strength of the business community. He termed the coming together of leadership from different markets on one platform as a positive and encouraging development, adding that it would further enhance coordination among traders. He congratulated the newly elected presidents and expressed confidence that they would play an effective role in resolving market-level issues.

Former ICCI President Khalid Iqbal Malik also congratulated the newly elected leadership and assured them of his full cooperation. He emphasized the importance of strong coordination among market leaders to effectively address traders’ concerns.

Host of the event, Roheel Anwar Butt, said the purpose of the dinner was to encourage the newly elected leadership and to unite all markets of Islamabad on a single platform. Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem highlighted that close coordination between market leadership and traders is essential for resolving business-related issues.

Naeem Akhtar Awan said the confidence shown by traders was both an honour and a responsibility, while Yousaf Rajput noted that Blue Area, being the central commercial hub of Islamabad, faces multiple challenges that can be resolved in an organized manner with the Chamber’s patronage.

Zahir Abbasi stressed that market development requires mutual consultation and a joint strategy, whereas Ajab Khan said he would raise traders’ issues at the Chamber’s platform in a coordinated way to ensure effective and lasting solutions.
