Tashkent/New York, February 17, 2026: President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will visit the United States from February 17 to 19 to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council, a newly established international platform aimed at promoting dialogue and peaceful resolution of global and regional conflicts.

The Peace Council was formally launched in January 2026 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where its founding charter was signed in a ceremony attended by heads of state, government leaders, and representatives from several founding countries. Uzbekistan joined as a founding member, reaffirming its commitment to multilateral engagement, peaceful diplomacy, and shared responsibility for international stability.

Uzbekistan’s participation reflects Tashkent’s longstanding foreign policy priorities of promoting dialogue, respect for international law, and rejecting force-based solutions. The country’s stance on the Palestinian issue, advocating a just and sustainable peace in line with United Nations resolutions, has gained additional international resonance through this initiative.

The upcoming Peace Council meeting aligns with the recent intensification of Uzbek–American political dialogue. Over the past six months, high-level contacts between Tashkent and Washington have surged, marking a new phase in bilateral relations. President Mirziyoyev visited New York in September 2025 for the UN General Assembly, engaging with world leaders and international organizations. In November 2025, he conducted a working visit to the United States, holding talks with the U.S. President, Congress, and business representatives, focusing on strategic partnership, economic cooperation, investment, and regional security, including the C5+1 format for Central Asia.

Bilateral contacts have continued through interagency coordination, telephone exchanges, and the expansion of economic dialogue. New platforms for business cooperation have been established, reflecting growing trust and the perception of Uzbekistan as a reliable, pragmatic partner pursuing balanced foreign policy objectives.

Uzbekistan’s engagement in the Peace Council further highlights the country’s increasing international standing and constructive role in global affairs. For the United States, it reinforces Tashkent as a key partner in promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across Eurasia and beyond.

Uzbek–American cooperation continues to deepen in regional security, economic reforms, trade and investment, education, and humanitarian initiatives. Joint projects in energy, digitalization, infrastructure, and human capital development are strengthening the foundation for a long-term strategic partnership.

President Mirziyoyev’s participation in the Peace Council’s inaugural meeting not only underscores Uzbekistan’s active role in shaping a new framework for international dialogue but also complements the positive trajectory of bilateral relations with the United States, contributing to long-term peace and stability in the region and globally.
