Karachi, February 28, 2026: Pakistan’s airspace remains fully open, safe, and operational despite airspace closures in parts of the Middle East, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed on Saturday.
According to PAA, a total of 27 flights were affected today due to diversions, returns, technical landings, and reroutes:
- Diversions to Karachi Airport: 13 (including technical refueling landings)
- Diversions to Lahore FIR: 4
- Returns to Islamabad Airport: 2
- Returns to origin/alternate airports: 3 (ABQ812 to Karachi; ABQ810 and SIF722 to Multan)
- Rerouted flights transiting Karachi FIR without landing: 5
Airline-led cancellations included 19 Air Sial Gulf routes, four PIA flights from Islamabad (to Aan, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi), all Fly Jinnah flights from Islamabad to the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and all Saudi Airlines flights from Peshawar to Saudi Arabia.
PAA emphasized that all operations were handled efficiently by air traffic control and airport teams, with no safety incidents or delays reported. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to the highest standards of aviation safety and security, in close coordination with national and international partners.
