Islamabad, March 1, 2026: The Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dan Stoenescu, on Sunday extended warm wishes to friends and partners on the occasion of Mărțișor, marking the beginning of spring.
In a message, the ambassador said Mărțișor is an ancient Romanian and Balkan tradition that symbolizes renewal, hope, and the triumph of light over winter. He highlighted that the red-and-white thread, traditionally offered as a token of friendship and goodwill, represents harmony, resilience, and new beginnings.
“For generations, Mărțișor has marked the arrival of spring and carried a message of optimism and solidarity,” he said.
Ambassador Stoenescu also noted that Mărțișor has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, reflecting a shared cultural legacy that connects communities across borders.
Concluding his message, the Romanian envoy expressed hope that the new season would bring health, prosperity, and renewed inspiration to all.
