Ismailia, Egypt, March 4, 2026: Pakistan continued its impressive run in the Men’s Hockey World Cup Qualifiers, defeating Austria to notch their third consecutive victory and move one step closer to the World Cup.

The victory came in the ongoing qualifiers in Ismailia, where Pakistan led 2-0 by the third quarter and added two more goals in the fourth quarter to secure a 4-0 triumph. Abubakar scored two goals, while Azfar and Sufyan Khan each contributed one goal.

With this win, Pakistan has qualified for the semifinals, scheduled for Friday, where a victory would guarantee the team a direct spot in the Hockey World Cup. This marks a golden opportunity for Pakistan to return to the World Cup after an eight-year hiatus, having last participated in 2018.

The team’s consistent performance in the qualifiers reflects renewed determination and skill, fueling hopes of making a strong comeback on the world stage.
