Islamabad, November 4, 2024 – Chief Justice Islamabad High Court justice Aamer Farooq has raised alarms over the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital, drawing parallels to extortion issues prevalent in Karachi.

During a hearing related to a recovery case, Justice Farooq noted that even his acquaintances have been targeted with extortion demands, underscoring a troubling increase in criminal activity within the federal capital. “Law and order in Islamabad is alarmingly poor, and urgent action is needed,” he stated, pointing out that extortion notices are becoming increasingly commonplace in the city.

The Chief Justice emphasized that such issues should not occur in a civilized society and called for an immediate response from authorities. He urged the Additional Attorney General to investigate the rising number of missing persons and street crimes, highlighting the necessity of accountability. “If we view these incidents as abductions for ransom, they must be halted,” he asserted, drawing attention to the growing number of unresolved cases.

Justice Farooq expressed concern that the escalating crime rates and the prevalence of missing persons cases are becoming a source of embarrassment for the capital. The court concluded the session by pressing authorities to take decisive measures to combat the surge in crime in Islamabad and to implement effective solutions.
