Islamabad, April 1, 2026: Ed Llewellyn, Director General Political at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), visited Islamabad on Wednesday for a series of high-level engagements, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s commitment to regional peace and stability.

During the visit, Ed Llewellyn welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and reiterated the UK’s call for an end to attacks on civilian infrastructure.

He also acknowledged the impact of terrorism on Pakistan and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by its law enforcement agencies and security forces in combating the threat. Reaffirming solidarity, he said the UK stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and remains committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area.

Highlighting broader areas of engagement, the British official underscored the UK’s support for Pakistan’s long-term economic growth, as well as continued collaboration on climate resilience, development initiatives, and people-to-people ties.

“This visit highlights the strength and depth of the UK–Pakistan relationship at a time of global instability,” Ed Llewellyn said. “Our partnership is rooted in shared interests, and continued dialogue is essential as we work together to support regional stability and address common security challenges.”
