Islamabad, April 3, 2026: The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, received Hanif Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Chess Federation, in Islamabad to discuss ongoing cooperation and future initiatives in the field of chess.
During the meeting, the ambassador was briefed on various activities being carried out in collaboration with the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, aimed at promoting the game and enhancing bilateral engagement.
Mr. Qureshi expressed his appreciation for the support and contributions extended by Kazakhstan towards the development of chess in Pakistan. He acknowledged that such cooperation has played a key role in strengthening the sport at the national level.
He also informed the ambassador about plans to send a delegation of Pakistani chess players to participate in the upcoming World Chess Championship, scheduled to be held in Almaty from April 6 to 11, 2026.
The participation is expected to provide valuable international exposure to Pakistani players and further deepen sporting ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
The meeting reflects growing cooperation between the two countries in sports diplomacy, particularly in promoting chess and facilitating international exchange for players.
