Islamabad, April 7, 2026: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation forces, calling it a grave violation of international law and an attack on the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the spokesperson described the incident as a “reprehensible act” that undermines the historical and religious character of the mosque, also known as Al-Haram Al-Sharif. The statement emphasized that such actions contravene established international norms as well as relevant United Nations resolutions.

Pakistan categorically rejected any attempts by Israeli authorities to alter the legal and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and warned that such provocations risk further escalating tensions in the region. It urged the international community to take immediate and effective steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Reaffirming its longstanding position, Pakistan reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination. The statement also renewed Islamabad’s call for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and viable State of Palestine, based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The Foreign Office underscored that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through a just and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law.
