EU backs Pakistan’s diplomatic role as Dar, Kallas discuss regional developments

Islamabad, April 8, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation on Tuesday with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas to discuss the latest regional developments.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and advancing a peaceful resolution to ongoing tensions in the region.

During the conversation, Kallas appreciated Pakistan’s proactive role and commended its efforts in helping create space for diplomacy, including facilitating the initial ceasefire between the concerned parties. She also conveyed the European Union’s full support for Pakistan’s continued engagement in promoting peace.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic coordination to achieve lasting stability, expressing their commitment to supporting ongoing efforts aimed at de-escalation.

The interaction underscores growing international recognition of Pakistan’s role as a key diplomatic facilitator amid heightened regional tensions.
