Islamabad, April 9, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a warm and cordial telephone call from Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, this evening.
During the conversation, His Highness congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on Pakistan’s successful diplomatic efforts that facilitated the recent U.S.-Iran ceasefire and enabled negotiations between the two sides in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Sharif thanked the Amir for his recognition of Pakistan’s mediation efforts and lauded the wisdom and restraint demonstrated by the Qatari leadership over the past six weeks of regional tensions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar, assuring that both nations would stand shoulder to shoulder in times of challenge and opportunity.
The two leaders expressed hope that continued diplomatic engagement and coordinated efforts would help restore lasting peace across the region.
