Islamabad, April 13, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Monday, during which the two leaders discussed regional developments and prospects for strengthening bilateral relations.

During their warm and cordial conversation, the leaders reviewed the recently held Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran, hosted by Pakistan. Prime Minister Takaichi appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating the ceasefire and negotiations, expressing Japan’s full support for the peace process and its significance for regional stability and global energy security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked his Japanese counterpart for her goodwill and acknowledged the constructive engagement of both the U.S. and Iranian delegations in Islamabad. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continued diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring the durability of the ceasefire and promoting peaceful dialogue.

The Prime Minister also underscored Pakistan’s desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation with Japan across diverse sectors. Prime Minister Takaichi reciprocated the sentiment, highlighting the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and deepen collaboration in pursuit of shared goals, reflecting the enduring friendship and growing partnership between Pakistan and Japan.
