Islamabad, April 23, 2026: Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday, reaffirming the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reiterated Pakistan’s pride in its “All-Weather Cooperative Strategic Partnership” with China.

The prime minister reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Chinese leadership to further strengthen ties and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

The two sides also exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East, including Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the prime minister for the meeting and appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in fostering dialogue and peace. He reiterated China’s commitment to further deepening its “iron-clad” relationship with Pakistan and advancing bilateral cooperation in line with the vision of President Xi Jinping.

Pakistan and China have long maintained close strategic, economic, and diplomatic relations, often described as a cornerstone of regional cooperation and stability.
