Islamabad, April 25, 2026: The final of the Pakistan Super League 2026 will be played in front of a full crowd after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the return of spectators, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday.
The decision makes the final the only match of the tournament to feature fans, as the rest of the season was conducted behind closed doors due to fuel-saving measures amid an ongoing energy crisis triggered by regional supply disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.
“I requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators in the stadiums,” Naqvi said. “While he was also inclined to permit fans, he emphasised that austerity measures are currently in place across Pakistan, with efforts underway to minimize fuel consumption. However, on the request of franchise owners, he has graciously approved the presence of fans for the PSL 11 Final.”
The PCB had earlier decided on March 22 to stage the tournament without crowds and limit matches to two venues—Lahore and Karachi—instead of the originally planned six cities. At the time, Naqvi had indicated that allowing spectators later in the tournament would depend on improvements in the regional situation.
Despite continued restrictions throughout the season, pressure mounted from franchise owners and fans for the return of crowds, especially for the marquee clash.
The final is scheduled to be held at Gaddafi Stadium on May 3. The PCB is yet to announce details regarding ticket sales and attendance arrangements.
