Islamabad, May 5, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday briefed the Diplomatic Corps on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, describing it as a symbol of Pakistan’s unity, resilience, and the resolve of its armed forces to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the briefing was part of the deputy prime minister’s regular engagement with the diplomatic community on key regional and global developments.

The Foreign Office said Ishaq Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s response during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was measured, lawful and consistent with the UN Charter, adding that it had been carefully calibrated to target only military installations while avoiding civilian harm.

He also cautioned against escalation and warned of risks to regional peace and security arising from unilateral actions and growing tensions in the region.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position on long-standing disputes, the deputy prime minister said the issue of Jammu and Kashmir remains central to regional instability and called for a just and peaceful resolution under United Nations auspices.

He further expressed concern over any unilateral steps affecting the Indus Waters Treaty, stressing that such actions could have serious implications for regional stability.

Ishaq Dar also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism, international peacekeeping efforts and constructive global engagement.

The deputy prime minister briefed diplomats on Pakistan’s facilitative and mediating role in supporting ceasefire efforts and promoting peace in the Gulf region and broader Middle East.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful coexistence in South Asia, while reaffirming the country’s resolve—along with its armed forces—to safeguard sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence.
