Kabul, May 10, 2026: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul commemorated the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos on Saturday, with Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to defend itself against any aggression and paying tribute to the country’s armed forces for their sacrifices.

Addressing a ceremony held at the embassy in Kabul, Ambassador Nizamani said the enemy had attacked the nation, but Pakistan’s armed forces responded valiantly on behalf of every Pakistani.

Paying glowing tribute to the military, he stated that the nation remains eternally indebted to the sacrifices rendered by its armed forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and security.

“Pakistan’s desire for peace must never be mistaken for weakness,” the ambassador remarked, while calling for heightened vigilance against emerging regional threats.

Referring to recent political developments in West Bengal, Ambassador Nizamani said the latest elections there had resulted in renewed and systemic violence against Muslims, describing it as a warning sign of growing anti-Muslim policies in India. He stressed that in such volatile circumstances, unwavering national support for Pakistan’s armed forces was essential for national security.

The ambassador also reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued moral, political, and diplomatic support for the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Discussing regional matters, Ambassador Nizamani reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining brotherly ties with Afghanistan and urged the Afghan authorities to take concrete measures against terrorist threats originating from Afghan soil.

He further highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between the United States and Iran, saying such initiatives reflected Pakistan’s sincere commitment to regional and global peace.

During the event, messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar were also read out.

A special documentary on Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was screened for participants at the ceremony.
