Karachi, November 11, 2024-Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar confirmed on Monday that four people, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with last month’s deadly blast near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, which targeted Chinese nationals.

The attack, which left two Chinese nationals dead and several others injured, was swiftly investigated by the Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Speaking at a joint press conference with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, Lanjar praised the CTD’s prompt response in identifying and apprehending those involved.

Lanjar stated that the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility for the attack. Investigations revealed that Rs7.1 million was transferred to an account belonging to a man named Saeed, facilitated by a bank employee named Bilal. This money was used to purchase a vehicle in Karachi, which was then relocated outside the city, possibly to Balochistan, to be loaded with explosives. The vehicle, carrying 30-40 kg of a white chemical explosive, was later brought back to Karachi with the assistance of a woman named Gu-e-Nisa to avoid detection.

The minister added that Javed, another suspect, had informed the attacker of the Chinese nationals’ departure from the airport. The suicide bomber, identified by his fingerprints as Fahad Shah, also known as Aftab, carried out the attack shortly afterward.

So far, four suspects are in custody, and authorities are actively searching for an additional accomplice named Danish. Minister Lanjar announced a Rs50 million reward for the CTD team responsible for dismantling the network and will recommend them for the Pakistan Police Medal.
