Islamabad, June 10,2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread dust storms, strong winds, rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the country from June 11 to June 13, warning of possible urban flooding, landslides and damage to infrastructure.
According to the Met Office, a western weather system is expected to enter the upper regions of Pakistan on June 11 and remain active until June 13. Moist air currents from the Arabian Sea are also likely to penetrate upper and central parts of the country during this period, intensifying weather activity.
Under the influence of the weather system, intermittent rain, thunderstorms, dust storms and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, various districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated areas may also experience heavy rainfall and hailstorms.
The PMD said northeastern districts of Balochistan are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms, while upper parts of Sindh may witness strong winds and dust storms.
The department warned that strong winds, lightning and hailstorms could damage vulnerable structures, including mud houses, solar panels, electricity poles, vehicles and outdoor advertising boards.
Authorities have also cautioned that heavy downpours may trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Faisalabad.
In the mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intense rainfall could increase the risk of landslides, flash flooding in local streams and temporary road closures, potentially disrupting travel and transport.
The PMD has advised farmers to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops and agricultural activities from adverse weather conditions.
Tourists, commuters and residents have been urged to remain updated through official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.
The department said relevant authorities have been advised to remain alert and take necessary preparedness measures to minimise potential losses during the forecast period.
