Ministry of Science and Technology & PepsiCo strengthen cooperation on food quality and halal product development

Islamabad, November 15, 2024 – PepsiCo and Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology have agreed to deepen collaboration on food quality standards, halal product development, and regulatory practices. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mr. Mariusz Michalik, Vice President and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at PepsiCo.

PepsiCo expressed satisfaction with its business operations in Pakistan and lauded the government’s support. The discussions emphasized PepsiCo’s commitment to developing halal-certified products tailored to the Pakistani market. The Ministry commended this initiative, highlighting its alignment with local consumer preferences and regulatory standards.

Beyond halal certification, the dialogue also focused on fostering innovation in the food sector through enhanced capacity building, workforce training, and job creation. This partnership supports the Ministry’s vision of advancing the food industry while contributing to Pakistan’s economic development.

The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary for Science and Technology Mr. Sajid Baloch and other officials, underscoring the importance of the collaboration. Both parties reiterated their commitment to promoting high-quality, locally relevant food products and driving growth in Pakistan’s food and beverage sector.
