Islamabad, June 23, 2026: The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad commemorated World Refugee Day with a simple yet meaningful program following its flag-raising ceremony, reaffirming the Philippines’ longstanding commitment to supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and stateless persons around the world.

As part of the observance, Vice Consul Rain Mendoza read a message from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and participated in a presentation highlighting the Philippines’ history of providing refuge to people fleeing conflict, persecution, discrimination, and other threats to their safety and freedom.

The presentation showcased the country’s humanitarian tradition of welcoming displaced individuals and offering them opportunities to rebuild their lives with dignity, security, and hope.

In a gesture of solidarity with refugees, forcibly displaced persons, and stateless individuals worldwide, embassy personnel wore blue, the color associated with World Refugee Day, to demonstrate support for the global observance.

The embassy reiterated the importance of compassion, inclusion, human dignity, and shared responsibility in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable communities across the globe.

“As we commemorate World Refugee Day, we reaffirm the values that guide international efforts to protect and assist those forced to flee their homes. Together, we must continue building a world where people seeking safety are welcomed with care, respect, and hope for a brighter future,” the embassy said.

World Refugee Day is observed annually on June 20 to honor the courage and resilience of millions of refugees, displaced persons, and stateless individuals worldwide while raising awareness of their rights and needs.
