Tashkent, June 27, 2026: Muhammad Abbas Khan, Resident Editor of Pakistan’s Daily Ittehad Media Group and the newspaper’s permanently accredited correspondent in Uzbekistan, has been awarded the Second Prize in the “Best Material about Uzbekistan by a Foreign Journalist” category at Uzbekistan’s prestigious 20th International “Golden Pen” National Award competition.

The award was presented during a ceremony held in Tashkent to mark Press and Mass Media Workers’ Day, honouring outstanding contributions by journalists from Uzbekistan and abroad.

Muhammad Abbas Khan was recognised for his sustained efforts in providing objective, comprehensive and analytical coverage of Uzbekistan’s democratic, political and socio-economic reforms for Pakistani audiences. His reporting has also highlighted the international initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan and the country’s efforts to promote regional cooperation and sustainable development.

Over the years, Khan has authored numerous analytical articles, interviews and reports on Uzbekistan’s political developments, economic reforms, investment opportunities, trade, transport and communication projects, tourism, cultural exchanges, humanitarian cooperation, regional security and sustainable development. His work has played a significant role in strengthening Uzbekistan’s international image and fostering greater understanding and friendship between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

A notable milestone in his journalistic career came in 2025 with the publication of his Urdu-language book, “Uzbekistan: The Third Renaissance Concept of the Future.” The book offers a comprehensive analysis of the reforms underway in New Uzbekistan, focusing on a development model driven by science, education, innovation and human capital.

The publication gained further prominence with a foreword written by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was formally launched in both Islamabad and Tashkent during high-level ceremonies attended by government officials, diplomats, scholars, media representatives and members of civil society, where it received widespread appreciation.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan congratulated Muhammad Abbas Khan on receiving the prestigious award, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his many years of distinguished journalistic service and his valuable contribution to presenting objective, reliable and insightful coverage of Uzbekistan to the international community.

The embassy also expressed its best wishes for his continued success and hoped his work would further strengthen friendship, mutual understanding and information cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
