Islamabad, July 2,2026: Chairman of the Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company (PGJDC), Shahid Iqbal Qureshi, called on Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan at Parliament House.

During the meeting, Shahid Iqbal Qureshi briefed the Deputy Chairman Senate on the overall performance of the Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company, its mandate, ongoing development initiatives, and future strategic plans. He highlighted the organization’s efforts to modernize Pakistan’s gems and jewelry industry, promote value addition, enhance exports, attract domestic and foreign investment, and create sustainable employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

He stated that Pakistan is richly endowed with precious gemstones and mineral resources, and that the effective utilization of this vast potential could significantly strengthen the national economy, boost exports, and generate large-scale employment opportunities.

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan appreciated the performance of the Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company and its initiatives for the development of the sector. He observed that the minerals, gemstones, and jewelry industry has the potential to play a pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy. He assured full parliamentary support for policies aimed at promoting investment, adopting modern technologies, developing a skilled workforce, encouraging value addition, and increasing exports.

The Deputy Chairman Senate emphasized that Pakistan is blessed with abundant natural resources and stressed the need to utilize these assets efficiently through modern approaches and effective planning. He noted that the optimum development of the minerals, gemstones, and jewelry sector would not only contribute to economic stability but also promote industrial growth, expand export potential, create employment opportunities, and improve the overall socio-economic well-being of the people.

He further remarked that Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possess immense reserves of valuable minerals and gemstones. Through sound planning, transparent policies, and the adoption of advanced technologies, these resources could serve as a catalyst for socio-economic development, prosperity, and employment generation in the two provinces while making a substantial contribution to Pakistan’s national economy.

The meeting also featured a detailed discussion on the challenges facing the gems and jewelry sector, institutional collaboration, ongoing reform initiatives, sustainable development, investment promotion, and future strategies for unlocking the industry’s full economic potential.
