Tehran, July 4, 2026: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, met with the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in Tehran. The meeting featured a comprehensive exchange of views on Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, regional peace and stability, challenges facing the Muslim Ummah, and the promotion of global peace.
During the meeting, Chairman Senate expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Government, Parliament, and people of Iran on the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the brotherly nation during this difficult time and stated that peace, stability, and prosperity are essential for lasting peace and development across the region.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan and Iran are bound by deep-rooted historical, religious, cultural, and fraternal ties, which should be further strengthened through enhanced cooperation. He emphasized the importance of expanding parliamentary exchanges, economic collaboration, trade, and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support and solidarity during Iran’s difficult times. He remarked that Pakistan has consistently proven to be a sincere and reliable friend of Iran in times of trial and that the Iranian leadership and people hold Pakistan and its people in the highest esteem.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and enhancing cooperation for regional peace, stability, prosperity, and the promotion of global peace through sustained bilateral engagement.
