Lahore, July 5,2026: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday announced a 17-member squad for Pakistan’s upcoming Test tours of the West Indies and England, with Babar Azam taking over as captain in red-ball cricket.
The squad was unveiled during a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium attended by members of the PCB selection committee, including Aaqib Javed, Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq.
The squad includes three uncapped players — Ali Usman, Mohammad Awais Zafar and pacer Ubaid Shah — while Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal have retained their places after making their Test debuts in the recent series against Bangladesh.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has regained full fitness and returns to the side, while Saud Shakeel has been left out of the West Indies tour but included in the squad for England, subject to fitness.
All-rounder Aamer Jamal has returned to the Test setup for the first time since Pakistan’s series against South Africa in 2025. The pace attack for the tours will feature Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Khurram Shehzad and Ubaid Shah.
Sajid Khan is the only specialist spinner in the squad, with Salman Ali Agha expected to offer a secondary spin option. Noman Ali, who was also omitted from Pakistan’s previous Test tour of Bangladesh, has once again been left out.
Pakistan currently sit at the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 standings, having won one and lost three of their four matches so far. The team has four points and a points percentage of 8.33.
The national side is scheduled to depart for the West Indies on July 13, where it will play a four-day warm-up match starting on July 18 before the two-match Test series.
The first Test against the West Indies will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba from July 25 to 29, while the second will take place at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain from August 2 to 6.
Following the Caribbean tour, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-match Test series. The first Test will be held at Headingley in Leeds from August 19 to 23, followed by the second at Lord’s from August 27 to 31. The third and final Test will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from September 9 to 13.
