Tajik envoy discusses cultural, academic cooperation with Pakistan Academy of Letters

Islamabad, July 24, 2026: Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda met Chairperson of the Pakistan Academy of Letters Dr. Najiba Arif and Director General of the National Language Promotion Department Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar to discuss expanding cultural, literary and academic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed ways to further strengthen collaboration between the academic and literary institutions of Pakistan and Tajikistan, with a particular focus on promoting literature, preserving shared cultural heritage and enhancing cooperation in the fields of language, translation and the exchange of expertise.

The participants underscored the importance of deepening cultural and humanitarian dialogue through increased exchanges of academic and literary delegations and the implementation of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

They also emphasized the need to promote closer cooperation in cultural and educational fields as part of the growing bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda presented official invitations to Dr. Najiba Arif and Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar to participate in the international conference titled “Tajikistan and 35 Years of Independence: Peacebuilding Experience, Multilateral Policy, and Sustainable Development.” The conference will commemorate the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence and focus on the country’s experience in peacebuilding, sustainable development and multilateral cooperation.
