Karachi, November 20, 2024-Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), visited the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre, as announced by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During his visit, General Munir commended the strong participation of defense manufacturers from friendly nations and observed an impressive display of arms and equipment by both domestic and international exhibitors. The exhibition features a total of 557 exhibitors, including 333 international participants and 224 from Pakistan. A total of 36 countries have set up exhibitors’ stalls, with 17 countries participating for the first time. More than 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries attended the event, demonstrating full confidence in both the exhibition and Pakistan’s defense industry.

A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Shahpar-III, a state-of-the-art combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) Pakistan. The Shahpar-III is capable of reaching an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet and can remain airborne for over 24 hours. It is equipped to carry a range of munitions, including bombs, missiles, and torpedoes.

In addition to the exhibition, General Munir engaged in meaningful discussions with foreign military officials and defense delegates, further strengthening international ties in defense technology and collaboration.

The 12th edition of IDEAS-2024 began on November 19 and will conclude on November 22, 2024. The event has become a significant platform for showcasing defense innovations and fostering partnerships in the global defense sector. Upon his arrival in Karachi, General Munir was warmly received by Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi.
