Islamabad, August 13, 2026: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Dr. Tariq Saleem has called on the nation to renew its commitment to building Pakistan as a strong, sovereign, democratic and welfare state on the occasion of Independence Day.
In his message, Dr. Tariq Saleem described Pakistan as a great blessing from Allah Almighty and the result of the historic struggle and sacrifices of millions of Muslims of the subcontinent.
He said August 14 provided an opportunity to reaffirm the national resolve to make Pakistan a prosperous, sovereign, Islamic and welfare state.
Dr. Tariq Saleem said Pakistan was currently facing serious challenges, including inflation, unemployment, rising electricity and petroleum prices, corruption, political instability and economic difficulties.
He said the true spirit of independence required ordinary citizens to be freed from economic exploitation, oppression and injustice, while ending the monopoly of the elite over national resources.
The JI Punjab chief said Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had laid the foundations of constitutionalism, democracy, rule of law, justice and national unity. He urged the nation to follow these principles and build a Pakistan where the law was applied equally to the rich and poor, young people had access to employment opportunities, and farmers and workers could prosper.
He also stressed the need to protect the fundamental rights of every citizen, including minorities, and ensure that state institutions remained focused on serving the people.
Dr. Tariq Saleem urged the nation to offer special prayers on Independence Day for Pakistan’s security, stability and prosperity and to promote unity and national solidarity.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its struggle for a Pakistan where justice, honesty, constitutional supremacy and people’s participation in governance become the true expression of independence and the foundation of a brighter future.
