Istanbul, August 15, 2026: A delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, joined Turkish business leaders in Istanbul on Friday to celebrate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, reaffirming the enduring bonds of friendship, brotherhood and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The Pakistani and Turkish business representatives jointly cut an Independence Day cake during the ceremony and exchanged greetings on the national occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood said Pakistan’s independence was achieved through immense sacrifices by the country’s forefathers and that every citizen had a responsibility to contribute to the nation’s progress and prosperity.
He paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their commitment, courage and sacrifices in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and national security.
Mehmood said the nation remained deeply grateful to its armed forces for protecting the country and helping preserve the peace and security necessary for economic development and prosperity.
Highlighting Pakistan-Türkiye relations, he said the two countries were bound by deep-rooted historical, cultural and fraternal ties, which should increasingly be translated into a stronger and more dynamic economic partnership.
He stressed that greater engagement between the private sectors of the two countries could unlock significant opportunities in trade, investment and joint ventures.
The ICCI president reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to facilitating stronger commercial ties between Pakistani and Turkish businesses. He said ICCI would continue providing platforms for entrepreneurs and investors from both countries to explore new markets, establish partnerships and transform mutual goodwill into tangible economic opportunities.
The Turkish business leaders warmly congratulated the people of Pakistan on the country’s 79th Independence Day and expressed their wishes for continued peace, stability, prosperity and economic progress.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and Pakistan, particularly through increased trade, investment and business-to-business cooperation.
