Lisbon, August 15, 2026: Pakistan’s veteran tennis players delivered an impressive performance at the ITF Masters World Championship in Lisbon, Portugal, winning four medals across different events.
Former Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq led the country’s medal charge by successfully defending the mixed doubles world title alongside Austria’s Nina Hermann, while Pakistan also secured two silver medals and a bronze.
Aisam and Hermann won the mixed doubles championship for the second consecutive time, defeating Portugal’s top-seeded pair in the final to retain their crown. The Pakistani-Austrian combination prevailed 6-4, 6-3.
The victory added another significant achievement to Aisam’s distinguished career on the international Masters circuit.
Pakistan’s medal tally grew with a silver medal in the men’s 45-plus doubles category, where Aisam-ul-Haq partnered fellow Pakistani tennis star Aqeel Khan.
The experienced duo enjoyed a strong campaign before finishing runners-up, adding another podium finish for Pakistan at the championship.
Pakistan also claimed silver in the men’s 45-plus World Team Championship, underlining the country’s competitiveness and consistency across the Masters categories.
Aqeel Khan completed Pakistan’s four-medal haul by winning bronze in the 40-plus mixed doubles event.
