Dubai, November 22, 2024- Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is expected to engage in a telephonic discussion with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi as uncertainty persists over the ICC 2025 Champions Trophy, according to Pakistani media reports.

Shah is also likely to travel to Dubai for a meeting with International Cricket Council (ICC) officials. This meeting aims to resolve the ambiguity surrounding the tournament schedule, which has been delayed due to disagreements between stakeholders.

The PCB remains firm in its opposition to the proposed hybrid model and has threatened to boycott matches involving India if the BCCI refuses to send its team to Pakistan. This stance has contributed to the postponement of the schedule announcement. Meanwhile, broadcasters, who rely heavily on the revenue and viewership generated by Pakistan-India matches, have expressed dissatisfaction with the uncertainty. They have reportedly threatened legal action if the ICC does not address their concerns.

Sources suggest that the tournament schedule could be finalized within days, provided stakeholders adopt a more flexible approach. While all parties are keen to reach a consensus to ensure the event’s success, the ICC is under pressure to find a resolution before Shah assumes the role of ICC Chairman on December 1.
